About the vvurmm

I have never been someone who could learn by listening. I learn best by touching, doing, and creating. In my early life I was often left alone. Having no one to talk to or interact with, I turned inward and used what I had to decorate any scraps of paper I could find.

One of my older brothers can draw photorealistically. Watching him draw his favorite things inspired me at the age of 4 to pick up a pen and draw with intent; which ended up being horrible doodles of Spongebob, hah!

Art has been there for me throughout my entire life. It was always the most stable, consistent, and comforting force. The emotions that I have been able to process and present through my art are invaluable to me, and even when I speak my last words it will be in an effort to create something beautiful.

I have been studying photography since the age of 12. I began with classes through every year of Middle and High school. I then attended Salem State University from 2016-2022 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography and a minor in Film Studies.

I find that my skills in photography have further enhanced my drawing, and vice versa. This can be easily seen through the strong composition of my pieces.

Growing up watching 1980’s horror has influenced my life and style greatly. I find myself drawn to the human form, whether it has flesh or not. I love to disassemble, manipulate, and reassemble what would otherwise be mundane. My favorite contemporary director is Guillermo del Toro, and I believe that his haunting view of the world has inspired me to present others with my own. The art I create is a physical manifestation of what I see.

My focus in my drawings tend to be around the theme of “body horror”. As mentioned before, I love the human form. This is heavily influenced by the constant berating of what the human body should look like. I, like many others, struggle with my self image. Through drawing warped and disfigured forms it releases me from the confines of my anxieties. Things never have to be perfect, for no one is perfect.

In my art you will see concentrated motifs of eyes, teeth, and hands.
